There are two quiet and beautiful beach areas that are used by tourists, Ngapali Beach and Ngwe Saung Beach. Both have beautiful sandy beaches, clear blue- green water, mild waves, are very good for swimming and have excellent hotel accommodations. Either one makes a perfect ending to your travels in Myanmar.

Ngapali Beach
This beach is located northwest of Yangon on the coast of the Bay of Bengal (western coast of Myanmar). It is reached by 40 minute flight from Yangon. It is not possible for tourists to drive there because of bad roads. In the peak season of Oct – mid May, there are daily flights to Ngapali beach from Heho (Inle Lake), Bagan and Yangon. The main part of the beach is about 4 kilometers long with a very nice beach. The currents and waves at Ngapali beach are very mild. There are only a very few rocky places, most of the beach is pure sand and the water is clear blue/green. Activities – Generally the beach is a quiet place. Guests can ride bicycles to visit the nearby fishing village. They can also take a boat to an offshore island for a picnic and some snorkeling. Some hotels have a few small sailboats and windsurfers for guests use.

Ngwe Saung Beach
This beach is located directly west of Yangon, also on the Bay of Bengal. On some few days, domestic airline Air Bagan, will be flying to the city of Pathein during the peak season (please check with us for schedule). From Pathein the guest will transfer by car to the beach. The road from Pathein to Ngwe Saung beach takes a little more than an hour and the drive is rather scenic as you pass farms, then wind up into hills with tall trees, and some small valleys. Later you pass some shrimp farms. The beach is around 12 kilometers long and the major hotels are located within a 7-8 kilometers stretch. is similar in quality to Ngapali beach. Ngwe Saung beach can also be reached by car driving from Yangon (about 5 hours). Like Ngapali, it is a quiet beach, some hotels have a few sailboats and windsurfers. It is possible to take a boat to one of the offshore islands and have a picnic. There is the possibility of scuba diving at an off shore island organized by Myanmar Treasure hotel. The quality of the diving here is fair but not world class.
